Do any facts matter?

Western officials in the past made claims that the Russian military was severely degraded, was running short of missiles, and facing a lack of artillery munitions. How are those statements wearing in the course of time?

Not very well as Ukraine has lost an enormous amount of their capability to generate electricity. They will not be able to ramp up armaments production as a result of this loss. They will have a difficult time bringing supplies to the front lines on a electrified rail system. Their citizens face a very cold winter later this year.

Now add in the fact that all the wonder weapons that NATO countries have supplied to Ukraine made no consequential effect in stemming the disastrous losses of their military personnel. Ukraine has lost a generation of potential or actual fathers.

But damn the facts, U.S. taxpayers are going to be on the hook for a $61 billion military aid package for Ukraine. It’s cynically justified as a jobs program for our military industrial complex. Public health, education, and general welfare are really not as important as this?
