A Second Post

I am restless. Actually, extremely restless as local weather has precluded any outdoors trail rides. Well, maybe my disinclination to brave strong winds and a rolling shower might not put off a more hardy dedicated athlete.

Aging transforms one. I really did not expect the diminished pace and power that dotage would confer. I can remember going for easy rides in my professional triathlete days averaging 35 kph over an 80 km course and thinking this was something doable for all my breathing days. No.

What does change with age is perspective. I love to ride and am very grateful for each opportunity. What I can do is ride fast (relatively) when my body assents and not so fast other days.

I now take rest days and no longer feel like a slacker. An old body needs more recovery that its younger version.

May you have a day with some pleasure! An indoors ride today makes the trail even more pleasurable for me. Take care!
